  • THE PRODUCERS

We wrapped Ben Banks last night and I got pretty emotional about it. It wasn’t just that over the last three weeks I’ve been able to watch as the words I wrote were acted out and that I got to fulfill a personal dream, it was that I knew that many of the people I’ve been working with were heading back to their lives. Most of the people who worked on this movie I met within the last few weeks, and now they are all like family to me.

I am going to let you know my feelings of them all department by department over the next week or so - First up, our producing team:

JUSTIN LYON, Producer - Without Justin none of this would have been possible. For those of us who know him, we’ve all witnessed the wizardry and Midas touch he has in situations across all spectrums (and you have no idea, still baffled at how he pulls off some of the stuff he does). He has a gift and was born to produce! Beyond that he inspired me and was there when I needed a shoulder to cry on (literally, hey, I’m a modern guy) and made sure all cylinders were operating as they should. That we were able to make this happen in 18 days and with our limited financial resources is a testament to his commitment, work ethic, and artistry. Yeah, you could say I love this guy. Can’t wait to see where the future takes us!

JAKE MOFFAT, Co-Producer and 1st AD - I hope Jake can go get about 8000 massages and get some sleep! He gave his all to this movie and I will never ever forget it. His ability to get us to make our days and complete the movie on schedule was amazing. He has a special place in my heart. I will miss his constant presence and indefatigable spirit!

JORY CORDY, Associate Producer - It’s kind of amazing to think I’ve known Jory for less than 6 months! I feel like he’s been a friend for life. His finger prints are all over this project from photography (on set and also for use in the movie) to producing responsibilities - one of my favorite people in the world! Helped me in numerous ways, some of them just needing to be able to know there’d be a smile and a laugh when I turned his way…

JASON DeVILLIERS (Junior), Executive Producer and Editor - the 3rd partner in Signal Films along with Justin and I, Junior played a huge role in me being able to finish this movie.  A director himself, he was so generous with his knowledge and in fact, he helped me set up a fight scene with specific shots and blocking - a lot of his contribution was behind the scenes because I stayed in a condo with him during production. It was a comfort to know he’d be there to chat when I’d get home after shooting - it was also amazing to see scenes he’d been piecing together while the rest of us were on set. As with Justin, I feel fortunate to be partners with him and await the future!
