AMY SOBO & JANE SOBO, Casting Directors - OK, so because of Justin and the relationships he’s established in the industry, we were able to have the AMAZING Jane and Amy Sobo of Sobo Casting cast the main roles in our movie out of LA. I can’t tell you how important this was. As a first time director, I was very nervous about a lot of the filmmaking process, and when we first met Jane and Amy for dinner in LA, I had no idea what to think. We’d spoken on the phone and they seemed enthusiastic, but you never know…

Well, I see them on the street in front of the restaurant, and right away I felt at ease. These sisters have style and class and it made me feel great to be talking about the script and the project with them. I will never be able to thank them for that aspect of what they did - it wasn’t just that they did an incredible job casting a super low budget movie, it was that they gave me, as a writer-director, a special gift that can only be given without knowing you’re giving it: Genuine enthusiasm and interest in a script. It’s such an amazing feeling as a writer and since the Sobos were the first contact Justin and I had with people working in the business, it was something that sustained me and that I built on and came back to throughout the process. The Sobos did not have to do this project. I know the didn’t do it for the $ : ) - they did it because of the relationship with Justin, but then also a love of storytelling. 

So, OK, we have dinner and talk and I feel great and then on the way out to our cars, I hug Amy and Jane gives me this little kiss on the cheek - and I swear to you I blushed!!! Ask Justin! It was a great evening, and the Sobos had swept me off my feet before any actual casting had begun!!!

OK, so we do the actual casting and I won’t get too heavy into the process, but going into Cast Away Studios and having Jane and Amy run the show was just a tremendous experience and let me tell you, they know what they are doing. The people we saw and the options we had were incredible. When you factor in our low budget, the Sobos were able to put together an amazing list of talent and I’m thrilled with the results!!!

Amy and Jane: You have a special place in my heart and I hope you both know how thankful I am to you for the work you did, but also for your spirit and the kindness you showed me. I won’t ever, ever forget it. Thank you so much… let’s do it again soon!!!!!
